What’s the most common use case of AI?!
What do you think is the most common use case of AI?!
Researchers from Anthropic recently completed a study of over 4 million Claude.ai conversations to determine how AI is being incorporated into real-world tasks across the modern economy. Surprisingly, they found that today’s AI usage focuses more on computer programming and technical writing tasks (source)!
But what does this mean for you as a leader in your organization, and why does it matter?
As computer programmers increasingly utilize AI to write code, developing software solutions is becoming easier, faster, and even cheaper. This means that in the future, we will have many more software solutions available in the market. Besides that, it suggests that AI is democratizing software development, allowing many individuals without computer science degrees or exceptional programming skills to use AI to write codes and develop enterprise solutions.
This shift is already happening. A few weeks ago, I saw it firsthand at my hair salon, where I learned Universe, my hair stylist, is creating an AI app to handle incoming calls and schedule appointments. She has been a hairstylist for over 20 years and has no background in technology. However, the new advancement in AI enabled her to develop her own AI assistant to manage her appointments and schedules. She’s planning to make it available to other hair stylists in the Bay Area by the end of the year.
The point is that now, every employee in your company is a technologist, and every AEC firm is a technology firm. You have all the ingredients (data) and the recipe (AI) to create your own solutions. The question is:
How are you empowering your employees to take advantage of this technology?
